how to organize ur computer: pictures (spring cleaning 2018) ☆・。

(( today is slushy, cold & rainy. so I feel like it's the best kind of day to stay in with a milky hot coffee, and to finally clean up my overstuffed hard drive ✫・゜・。I have actual problems with keeping things organized, so my laptop has accumulated a lot of badly placed folders, way too many saved images and duplicate files all over its hard drive! poor computer!  this morning though, I finally found the cord for my hdd, so letz get started <3 ))

1. Sorting through your files

Personally I have a ton of files-pictures that are just. . .  in the way, that I do not use, yet cannot delete. These go in the Archive.
I create a folder in Documents called Archive. I then create a folder called, 2018. In 2018, I create a folder for Pictures, a folder for Documents, Scans and Music. I sort all the files I see that I dont use ever, yet do not want to delete forever. This way you can hoard your files in a timecapsule ;3
At the very end of the process we will compress this folder.
I delete pictures that make me sad. I delete pictures of my exes. I delete everything I can, but I keep pictures that feel irreplaceable or special. Ask yourself what is to go in your timecapsule. Im excited to revisit mine :3

(I create 2, sometimes 3 copies  of the pictures I want to keep safe. If something happens to my computer, I have these copies as a backup. )

Once you feel everything is exactly where it should be, you are ready to pack up and clean your computer n_n

2. Delete things, and empty the recycle bin
    ✫・゜・so satisfying ✫・゜・

3. Archive files (I do this with extra files, old phone pictures I want to keep just in case, and school notes from preivous quarters).
On my computer I create an archive by
Right-click > New compressed folder > name the folder 'archived ...'
Then you should be able to click & drag your archive into this folder, the compression will happen automatically.
When the archive folder is completely zipped(compressed) I move it to my external hard drive.

The goal is to declutter your computer and only keep files and folder relevant to your current projects, goals and daily life.

4. Your own directory (file system)
The not so fun part(at least for me, lol) is to keep everything organized so your computer won't get overcluttered (speaking from personal experience, maybe most people have immaculate clean file directories & I'm just abnormally messy!)

Hope this helps ^.^
